Recent Projects

  • Lighthouse Investigation’s Principal, Markus Lutz, has conducted several hundred Public Interest Disclosure and Code of Conduct investigations into allegations of fraud, misuse of resources, conflicts of interest, breaches of procurement guidelines, acts of violence, bullying, harassment and discrimination involving all levels of staff from executive management to front line employees, support staff and contractors.
  • Worked closely with internal and external stakeholders to review the fraud control environment of an accounts branch as a result of a large-scale fraud, and implemented strengthened system and people-based controls and detection testing.
  • Revised the Fraud & Corruption Control and Compliance Management Plans of a NSW Utility. Introduced new control testing regimes and simplified reporting to the Board and Executive Management, working with the business to create greater visibility and transparency around risk and risk ownership.
  • Delivered a revised Code of Conduct and Gifts & Benefits Policy to a NSW Utility, ensuring the policies were aligned to a changed and changing workplace culture, whilst remaining consistent with NSW Government and Audit Office NSW guidelines.
  • Assisted and advised Executive Management in the conduct of cultural reviews that identified instances of bullying, harassment and discrimination, and provided recommendations that resulted in changes to management and organisational structures.
  • Coordinated an organisational response to amendments to the Privacy Act, which created the Mandatory Data Breach Notification Scheme. Also managed the organisational response to the “PageUp” Data Breach, including liaising with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the coordination of the notification to more than 100,000 affected users.
  • Developed and delivered training and awareness sessions on all the above policy changes, as well as providing general Fraud & Corruption and Code of Conduct awareness training across all levels of large and small organisations.
  • Delivered training to HR staff on how to manage the grievance process, conduct bullying, harassment and discrimination investigations, and adhere to the principles of procedural fairness and natural justice.
